Week Five of Fall Shares

Here we are, already at week five. Only three weeks to go before we rest for the winter. Ahh, rest!? Well, at least we slow up, plan next years season and plant garlic, cover crops and build the high tunnel for winter crops. We won’t be doing winter baskets, but we will have winter crops available throughout the winter months to tie you over till spring shares. We have had several request to open our shares for next season…. With having a little more growing space and man (haha! Women) hands, we decided to go ahead an post next years shares. Also, next year we will have an online order form to place egg, cheese, artisan bread, chicken and grass fed beef orders for you when you come to pickup your baskets at the dates you request.

Ok, we are making another plead for baskets! Please! If you have any laying around, we need them. We don’t have enough for our shares. Thanks for you help with this!

Week Four of Fall Shares

It’s fall tomorrow! We are ready! We just got back from the organic pumpkin farm in Colorado early, oh very, very early…. We grew many heirloom pumpkins this year, but still enjoy the long drive to our favorite pumpkin farm every year for the big carving pumpkins and some more heirlooms we don’t grow like lumina the white pumpkin pie pumpkin.

Here’s what’s In your share this week~

Canary melon

Acorn squash

Beets

Turnips

Hot peppers

Nectarines (they are very ripe! Hurry and eat um up)

And of course the you pick produce box. Remember take what you can use, being mindful others!

Week Three of Fall Shares

Feeling ready for fall? This week is a teeny weeny bit cooler. Thank goodness for fall! If this weeks basket doesn’t make you feel like doing some fall cookin’, then I don’t know what will!

We have been harvesting our winter squash and pumpkins the last few days. As you know, each week we try to have a new winter squash in your baskets. This week is delicata winter squash. You don’t need to peel! Just wash slice and roast with a little olive oil, salt, pepper and herbs and spices of your choice. Delicata is one of our favorites.

What’s in your basket this week? Well, we did some rooting around for it!

Onions

Peppers (hot and mild)

Greens ~ look for the greens bag you prefer. They are all a little different in each basket.

Week Two of Fall Shares

Ahhh…. What a nice week! It certainly makes growing more of pleasure when those temps drop below 100!

PLEASE NOTE: This fall we will have a basket or two of miscellaneous produce. This is part of your share. Feel free to take what you will use, while being mindful of others. If you take a winter squash, make that be the only thing…if you want fruit, take four or five and maybe a pepper or two. If you are making eggplant Parmesan, take what you need for that! Get the just of it?
