Week Eight – Last for Spring Shares

Can you believe this is the last week of spring shares? Don’t forget we are skipping a week next week before summer shares begin June 7th.

This weeks basket includes:

Shallots

Green onions

Mustard greens

Salad Blend

Rainbow carrots (washed, peeled and sliced)

Cherries

Mixed herb bag

And, one of either a fennel bulb, artichokes or kohlrabi (unfortunately we didn’t have enough of each for everyone to have so we mixed it up).

Thank you all for your support!

See ya in a couple weeks!

Week 7

One more week after this and our spring Shares will be over. Summer shares will start not the following Thursday but the one after that. I think the date is June 7th.

Cody would like to say happy birthday to any of you having or had a birthday this month. (He is getting a little excited about his coming up and thinks everyone is having a birthday soon too.)

Week 6 of spring Shares

Hello all you wonderful people, isn’t it a fantastically warm day? Just about time to set up the kiddy pool and cool off! And while your dipping your toes you can be savoring the summer sweet flavor of fresh picked strawberries on a cool crisp garden salad….. who are we kidding 90% of those strawberries won’t even make it on to a salad. I know when I’m hulling them for either my son to eat or to make something with them, I end up eating at least half. (Usually with a sprinkling of sugar) it’s bad I know, but oh so good!

Basket goodies

  • Lettuce
  • Kale
  • Beets
  • Garlic
  • Peas: snap or shelling
  • Strawberries
  • Broccoli
  • Fingerling potato’s

Peas, Broccoli, Garlic and Strawberries!

This week the gardens are going through some major transitions. Several of our early spring crops like spinach, arugula and lettuce are bolting with the heat. Out they go and in with the new! Change is welcome, but tender greens will be missed as the weeks go by. Broccoli will be ready this week as well as the shelling peas, garlic and strawberries. Yay! The first of the fruit! The cherries are just starting to get the slightest of color change. With any luck, they will be in spring Shares.

A quick note~ we are looking for some old fashioned wood frame windows with the glass. If anyone has some floating around and want to trade for some extra produce, we’d love to make a deal! We are looking to build a protected area for our transplants with them.
