Summer shares week 4


Wow! I don’t know about you, but the heat is kicking my butt this week! On the plus side it should help our tomatoes set and rippen a lot faster.

I do have to apologize again to you guys. I promised I would post two recipes last week and I failed spectacularly on that mark. But I did have a sick little boy that needed me.

Shares are the same but different this week. A lot of repeat items that are just a summer staple. And a few things that are new.

Week 1 of Summer Shares

Hello everyone and welcome to our first share of summer. We have a lot of great fruits and veggies for you in this basket, with many more variety’s to come in the next couple weeks.

With the heat of summer finally here, our tomatoes are taking off and putting blooms on like crazy! Not too much longer and we will be loading you all up with fresh juicy tomatoes and other heat loving produce like onions, squash, potatoes, peppers, eggplant, peaches and berries.

I’m sure there is other produce that I am forgetting, this was just off the top of my head with a toddler in my lap “helping” me type.

  • Cucumber
  • Carrots
  • Radishes
  • Lettuce
  • Cherries
  • Apricots
  • Garlic
  • mixed baskets surprise
    • (We didn’t have enough peas this week for everyone to have them, so some got snow peas, shelling peas, squash, or cherry tomatoes in their basket)
  • Lavender bundle
    • (keep it fresh and enjoy the blooms or dry it and use it in culinary dishes or scent bags)

Week Four of Spring Shares


The flowers are Blooming, the bees are buzzing, the sun is shining, and Easter is this weekend! We hope the Easter bunny is bringing lots of fun times and good food your way.

Also a big variety of our heirloom tomatoes are ready to be planted at your place.

This weeks baskets is a good mix of root crop and leafy greens.

This includes:

  • Lettuce
  • Leeks
  • Celery
  • Parsnips
  • Spinach
  • Radishes
  • Herb Bundle
  1. Thyme
  2. Oregano
  3. Dill

(dill is good in potato salad and deviled eggs.)

We would love feedback from you. Tell us what you like or don’t like about your basket. Share with us your favorite recipe that you have used your produce in. We love to expand our cookbook with something new or a different variation.

 

Week 2 of Spring Shares

First of all I have to apologize to all of you, My brain was missing for the day last Thursday, and I absolutely forgot to blog a welcome to everyone and tell you what to expect in your shares. I promise to do better today.

Secondly…… WELCOME EVERYONE TO SPRING SHARES WEEK TWO! We are beyond excited to share with you all the fantastic things we have been growing just for you this spring. Let me tell you there are some really great veggies this week.

  • Green onion
  • Chives
  • Lettuce
  • Spinach
  • Asparagus
  • Beets / Leeks
  • Micro Greens
  • Boc Choy

If you got leeks last week, we have beets for you this week.

Also we have extra produce in the shop today so come in early and see what we got before its gone!

Last Week of Fall Shares

Sadly this is the last week of shares for fall. It has been wonderful getting to know our new people and catching up with those who have been supporting us for a while, we really truly appreciate every one of you. You all are wonderful. We did go a little crazy with this final basket just because its our last for the year and we love to spoil you!

This week:

  • Butternut squash
  • pomegranate
  • potatoes
  • sun chokes
  • broccoli
  • baby leeks
  • salad turnips
  • persimmons
  • pie pumpkin
  • quince
  • cayenne pepper (little goes a long way)
  • gypsy pepper
  •  green bell pepper

If you don’t want the quince, please don’t take any (it’s the fuzzy looking pear) of course we always encourage you to step our of your culinary comfort zone and try new things, you just might find something that you never would have thought you would like.

There will still be produce available every week until we freeze, please feel free to stop by and say hi.

Week 9 of Fall Shares

It is almost Halloween

Very heavy basket this week with lots of variety. basically, something from every category. Root crop, greens, vines, and tree produce. I think that’s a first this year! So what will you see in your basket…..

Week 8 of Fall Shares

Happy fall ya’ll!  Boy do we have a treat for you this week! NO PEPPERS! that’s right we spared you a week with absolutely no peppers. Just kidding, that’s not the real treat. All though I am serious about there being no peppers. No the real treat is Ali pressed a ton of apples to make you apple cider! And oh my goodness it is really good.

There is a lot of other fun things in your basket this week for example:

  • Banana Squash  section (because they are just so big)

Lots of fun new things to experiment with. Maybe make a dixie salad with the pomegranates and apples, or buttercup ravioli with browned butter and rosemary, or balsamic apple salad. oh so many things to create.

Also if you don’t think you will use the apple cider please don’t take it, it’s a lot of work to make.

Week 6 of Fall Shares

HAPPY FALL Y’ALL! Whew the was a cold rain we got caught in while picking produce for shares. But on the plus side I don’t have to water anything today. Some of you told me that you liked variety  in the baskets and we are doing are best to deliver just that for you. Of course there is also repeat items (because that’s just what is growing in the garden right now) like tomatoes and peppers.  Also before I forget to mention it to you, the pears that you are getting this week are ripe and very delicate so please be careful when you transfer items to your bag so they don’t bruise. plus the parsley and sweet stevia are in the same bag (cut down on plastic waste this way).

Week 5 of Fall Shares

What a FANTASTIC rain we had this week! And what a great way to kick-start the first day of autumn! So with shares this week…..I was left to my own devices MMWAAA HA HA HA! While Ali was getting a ton (literally over a ton actually) of awesome pumpkins and gourds. Hopefully you love your basket this week and all the fun stuff that’s in it. There is a few things we haven’t ever done before and I have never had to do shares by myself before either….so…..here you go

you can eat the pistachios raw or soak them in a brine then bake them (instructions to be posted later)

with the Indian corn you can use it as a decoration or grind it up into corn meal and used

Week 4 of Fall shares

Since it’s almost fall, and that is the best time to plant a tree, I thought I would share some advice from a tree.
